Using CSPI Distributed Simulation Standards for the Analysis of a Health Supply Chain
نویسندگان
چکیده
Commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) Simulation Package Interoperability is a problem that has been studied by the Simulation Interoperability Standards Organization’s (SISO) COTS Simulation Package Interoperability Product Development Group (CSPI PDG). The UK National Blood Service maintains the supply chain of blood from donor to hospital. The simulation of this supply chain is vital to better support decisions made for an extremely scarce resource. Such models are very large and can take a very long time to execute. This paper investigates whether or not CSPI PDG standards can be used to create a distributed simulation of this supply chain and if a speed up can be achieved. The results show that for larger blood supply chain models this is the case.

Simulation with Cots Simulation Packages : a Case Study in Health Care Supply Chain Simulation
The UK National Blood Service (NBS) is a public funded body that is responsible for distributing blood and associated products. A discrete-event simulation of the NBS supply chain in the Southampton area has been built using the commercial off-the-shelf simulation package (CSP) Simul8. This models the relationship in the health care supply chain between the NBS Processing, Testing and Issuing (...
متن کاملA Review Of DEA Approaches For Health Supply Chain
More than 200 papers have been published in the last 20 years on the topic of health supply chains (HSC). Looking at the research methodologies employed, less than 15 papers apply data envelopment analysis (DEA) models. This is in contrast to, for example, A Network Data Envelopment Analysis (NDEA) Model for Supply Chain Performance Evaluation where several reviews on respective NDEA models hav...
متن کاملOptimal design of supply chain network under uncertainty environment using hybrid analytical and simulation modeling approach
Models that aim to optimize the design of supply chain networks have gained more interest in the supply chain literature. Mixed-integer linear programming and discrete-event simulation are widely used for such an optimization problem. We present a hybrid approach to support decisions for supply chain network design using a combination of analytical and discrete-event simulation models. The prop...
متن کاملDeveloping a Suitable Model for Supplier Selection Based on Supply Chain Risks: An Empirical Study from Iranian Pharmaceutical Companies
The supply chain represents the critical link between the development of new product and the market in pharmaceutical industry. Over the years, improvements made in supply chain operations have focused largely on ways to reduce cost and gain efficiencies in scale. In addition, powerful regulatory and market forces have provided new incentives for pharmaceutical firms to basically rethink the wa...
متن کاملThe Effect of Risk Management on Supply Chain Management (Case Study: SAIPA Company)
The present study aimed to determine the effect of risk management on supply chain management(case study: Saipa Company). This study was applied in terms of purpose and descriptive-correlational in terms of data collection method. The tools used in this study include the 29-item questionnaire. The statistical population of this study included 110 managers of Saipa Company in Tehran. In this stu...
